Jobs in Supporter Services focus primarily on maximising the support non-profit and public sector organisations receive through donations. This involves liaising with external individuals and organisations and can involve working with suppliers who have been instructed to process donations. Individuals need the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Typical roles include Supporter Care or Services Officer, Supporter Care or Services Assistant or Supporter Care or Services Manager, Head of or Director.
The main responsibility for supporter services is to ensure the supporter journey exceeds expectations. Duties include reconciling income from donations, gift aid, coordinating payroll giving donations, producing reports, handling telephone enquiries from supporters and banking and thanking supporters for their donations, managing enquiries and complaints and sometimes the team will also be involved in telephone fundraising.
There are no formal qualifications for Supporter Services jobs, however many non-profit organisations will require experience in a customer service orientated role. Also good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and databases, such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, ThankQ, CARE, Microsoft Dynamics and Visual Alms. Good numeracy, attention to detail, organisational skills and accuracy are also important skills needed for these roles.
