The TPP MarComms & Digital team have seen an increase in the demand for Celebrity Liaison Officers and Managers in the non-rofit sector over recent years, both for full time and part time roles.
Responsibilities and duties of a Celebrity Liaison Officers are to establish, maintain and develop long-term relationships with celebrities and keeping internal records up-to-date of celebrities to raise awareness. Other duties include developing targeted plans to manage the recruitment and development of celebrity supporters and recommending appropriate celebrities for media opportunities and act as their main point of contact.
Celebrity Liaison Officers and Managers must have an understanding of celebrity support to charities. Knowledge of working practices when dealing with celebrities and agents, good awareness of the media environment and journalists’ priorities and motivations are also essential.
Skills include good interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal, a confident and an assurance of confidentiality, demonstrable tact, sensitivity and diplomacy. Celebrity Liaison Officers must also have perseverance skills and a positive attitude to counter unsuccessful bids for support, the ability to work under pressure, prioritising workloads and meeting tight deadlines.
