Welcome to our newest team members Frederick and Sema! Find out a little more about them below.

Frederick Hillinger - Senior Consultant (Major Donor & Trusts)

Frederick joined the Fundraising and Development team at TPP in 2021. He has extensive experience in non-profit and higher education, with experience of operational and strategic level fundraising. He is excited to help both clients and candidates develop their organisations and their careers. He is passionate and knowledgeable about fundraising and knows what it takes to be successful.

Your greatest achievement?
My greatest achievements in fundraising were never the biggest gifts. I enjoy the challenge of turning a no into a yes. If someone gives me a reason why they won’t support a cause I make it my mission to find a suitable reason they should. If they are talking to you, then you are halfway there. Fundraising during COVID presented many challenges, but some opportunities to adapt strategies very quickly. Launching an individual giving campaign raising over £350,000 from 900 donors with three weeks’ notice was excellent!

Why did you join TPP?
The last two years has seen a huge amount of change in the fundraising landscape, and in my own life. I decided I wanted a new challenge and after extensive conversations with the teams at TPP I decided that I would be a good fit, fortunately the team here agreed. Fundraising is so important for so many charities and having worked in the sector I know how difficult it can be finding the right team members, and I know what it takes to be successful.

Unusual fact?
My favourite unusual fact is that “coolth” is a word, it means the opposite of warmth. If you can use it in a sentence I will be thoroughly impressed!

Favourite film or book?
Be My Enemy by Christopher Brookmyre

Tea or Coffee?
Coffee in the morning, tea in the evening.

Sema Hussein - Senior Consultant (Corporate & Special Events)

Sema started her career in sales in the commercial sector, but a few years later, after a short experience of supporting a local hospice, she proactively sought out a permanent role within the charity sector. Securing a job at a large national charity, she quickly found a passion in Corporate Fundraising and continued building her knowledge and experience in this area, across different charities, for 6 years.

Now working within the Fundraising and Development team at TPP, Sema is excited to utilise her fundraising experience to best support and connect with her clients and candidates at charitable organisations across the UK.

What is your greatest achievement?
This is a difficult one, but I would have to say buying my first home. I saved for a long time, and it feels like a big milestone for me.

Why did you join TPP?
I had been feeling like I wanted a change in my career when I saw the advert for a ‘Fundraising Consultant’ at TPP. The more I read, the more I felt I had to explore the opportunity as it seemed to be a role where I could satisfy and utilise both my sales and fundraising experience. TPP’s flexible working attitude meant that the job was accessible to me despite living a fair distance from London. Lastly, the culture of a company is important to me, and my expectations were surpassed at every stage. Really things just started to align, and it felt right!

Unusual fact?
I once had a chat over a cuppa with Prince Charles!

Favourite film or book?
This is impossible for me to choose... a Rom Com such as The Holiday, a psychological thriller like Prisoners, a drama like The Blind Side and a good old Disney film like Soul. I love them all.

Tea or Coffee?
I would say tea but really, I much prefer a chai tea latte, especially in winter!
