Why bother recruiting in December?

Posted on 24/11/2016 by Jo Hodge

The job market is traditionally quietest in December, as employers postpone their recruitment until the new year. But more and more organisations are realising that advertising their roles in the Christmas run-up can actually pay off.

Some of the advantages of recruiting early include:

  • There is less competition for talent, as there are fewer employers advertising

  • Take advantage of a quieter period to dedicate time to going through CVs etc

  • Jobseekers are also going through a quieter time, so often have more time to think about their career and start job hunting

  • If your financial year starts in January, having a new employee in place will get maximum value from your allocated budget

  • The end of a year is a natural time to reflect on your team’s activity and exactly what skills you’d need a new team member to contribute

There's still time to find your perfect employee before Christmas, contact TPP on or 020 7198 6000.
