How do you begin harnessing AI in your charity and look to make provision for it in the future?   

Join our free interactive webinar where a panel of experts will share insights, lessons learnt, risks and knowledge of their AI journey to other CEOs.  

We will cover some broad themes and elements of AI from a leadership perspective.

Rashik Parmar – CEO of the BCS

Rashik Parmar MBE is Group Chief Executive of BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT. His team are focussed on the value of professional membership, promoting digital skills and computing education, and building BCS’ reputation for insight on emerging technology like AI and Quantum Computing. He pioneered responsible computing as an open framework to restore trust in IT.

As a former VP Technology for IBM, Rashik helped drive its European technical strategy with a focus on guiding companies through digital transformation.

A Fellow of both IBM and BCS, Rashik was awarded the MBE for services to business and innovation. 

Rashik is a Council Member at The Open University (OU), a Senior Independent Member and NERC Council Member at UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), and a Fellow at Digit Lab. He serves as a Research Industry Advisory Board Member at Leeds University Business School. 

Rashik is a founder of Rangoli Radio, which serves the Hindu community.


Paul Excell Chair of AI for Charities

Paul is an award-winning Coach and Board Advisor at major global AI/Tech companies ($bn) focusing on growth mindset and the 7Cs of exceptional leadership. 

He is Partner, Coach and investor at ScaleUp Group which has supported 15 leading high growth companies raise £60m+ in growth funding and achieve a x7 increase valuation on exit. 

After starting as an apprentice, he was CIO/COO at BT with responsibility for services in 178 countries, supporting $5bn in revenue and a innovation pipeline of $2bn. 

Paul is also Chair, AI4C (AI for Charities) at the Worshipful Company of Information Technologists (WCIT) … a unique collaborative community of 35+ leading charities, IT industry leaders and experts deploying AI for good. 

He is a Fellow of the Institute of IT (FBCS) and Institute of Engineering & Technology (FIET) and the author of the 7Cs of Exceptional Leadership. He is a Liveryman of the WCIT and a Freeman of the City of London. 


Alex Duncan – Chief Technology Officer for the British Heart Foundation

Alex Duncan has worked in technology for 20 years, starting as a software engineer at lastminute.com in the heyday of the early 2000s. Alex was at lastminute.com for 7 years implementing new booking systems across package holidays and lifestyle products. Moving to QVC, the shopping channel, Alex managed their customer service and order management systems across QVC globally and led their transition to agile working. 

More recently, Alex was CTO at ATG (Ambassador Theatre Group), where she built a first-class Technology team building an industry leading ecommerce platform for theatre tickets. Since, she was at Costa Coffee (part of Coca Cola) leading their data and digital teams and is now CTO at the British Heart Foundation. 

At BHF, she has set an ambitious strategy to deliver world class retail and marketing systems, focusing on a single view of the customer that can increase BHF’s life saving research. In November 2022 she was recognised by Cranfield as one of their “Women to Watch”. She has just finished an MBA at Warwick Business School and lives in Wimbledon with 2 children, 2 dogs, 2 cats and a long-suffering husband. 


Paul Herbert  SVP and Trustee for Royal Osteoporosis 

Paul Herbert is a digital transformation leader with over 20 years of experience providing strategic advice to C-level executives at major corporations. At Inizio Evoke, a global technology and creative platform specialising in the healthcare industry, he leads a team of digital transformation consultants and specialists. Paul's work focuses on embedding new ways of working, driving value from emerging technologies, achieving cost discipline in technology and digital investments, creating leaner and more agile operating models, and delivering digital solutions at scale for many of the world's largest healthcare organisations.

As a Trustee at the Royal Osteoporosis Society, a leading charity serving 3.5 million people with osteoporosis in the UK, Paul offers board-level strategic advice and a specialist perspective on digital marketing and communications. His trustee role involves governance, strategic input, committee engagement, organisational oversight, and strategic planning for the charity.

With extensive experience leading large-scale digital projects, Paul has successfully implemented comprehensive web strategies, customer data platforms, and marketing technology solutions. He has a proven track record of driving operational efficiencies, enhancing customer experiences through omnichannel communications, and achieving cost discipline through digital transformation initiatives and communications for global brands like Adidas, Mercedes, and, recently, leading pharma and biotech companies.

Paul's unique combination of corporate leadership experience spearheading digital transformation for major global companies and hands-on charity board trusteeship positions him as an ideal panellist to discuss the risks, opportunities, and strategic considerations surrounding AI adoption from a leadership perspective tailored to the needs and challenges of leading charities in the UK.
