About Phosphoros Theatre

Phosphoros Theatre is an award-winning, industry-leading company focused on amplifying refugee voices and bringing them to the main stage. We collaborate with artists, audiences and participants with lived experience of forced migration, inviting the public to listen, learn, and advocate for change. Our work is changing lives every day.

 Our core objectives are to:

  • Co-produce with refugee artists, facilitators and practitioners to develop bold and informed performance
  • Develop best practice in the arts and refugee sectors, through designing and delivering trauma-informed creative training.
  • Raise awareness of refugee issues on a wider societal level through advocacy and media work.
  • Provide paid work, training and development opportunities for refugee artists and youth workers.

We’re proud to be recognised as a leading refugee arts organisation and Theatre Company of Sanctuary, responding to one of the most critical social issues of our time. We co-produce transformative, compelling projects for refugee youth, with trauma-informed practice at their core. Our public productions are recognised for artistic excellence, and bringing hopeful, relevant and bold theatre to large audiences. These strands of our work demonstrate a sustained commitment to creating pathways from participant to leader, audience member to performer. We value long and slow work, developing emerging artists over a number of years and nurturing the theatre makers of tomorrow.
