Specialist/Expert Volunteer (Microsoft SharePoint Organiser) - RSPB

Why we need you If you have around 7 hours a week to spare (very flexible, working around you), are confident using MS 365 apps including Sharepoint and are the sort of person who loves creating order out of digital chaos then this could be the role for you!

We’re looking for a volunteer to lead on overhauling and reorganising our existing Sharepoint environment, building clean, user-friendly file systems.

NB. If you’d enjoy supporting others in learning SharePoint then that’s great. So you’d need to be great at clearly explaining things and happy to go at the pace others are comfortable with.

What tasks you’d be doing

  • Audit Current Setup: Review our existing SharePoint sites, document libraries, and folders.
  • Design New Structure: Create a logical, intuitive site hierarchy and navigation system.
  • Clean & Move: Safely relocate files into the new structure without losing data.
  • Fix Permissions: Set up clear, secure access control for different team members.
  • If you’re happy to (though this isn’t an essential part of the role), supporting others who are learning SharePoint

What’s in it for you

  • Great opportunity to put your SharePoint knowledge to good use
  • Build on existing skills, add to your experience
  • Flexibility, working around your own schedule.
  • No need to travel as role can be done from your own home, although also option to work from your nearest RSPB office if you’d like to – or a hybrid of both if you prefer!

What skills/experience you need

  • Confident using Microsoft 365 apps and SharePoint
  • Organised with an eye for detail: You enjoy bringing structure to files and data.
  • Great communication skills, patience (if you’d enjoy supporting others who are learning SharePoint – though not an essential part of the role).

Why we want you

Volunteers make up around 80% of our workforce. They bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and skills that allow us to expand our operations and be the best RSPB we can be.

Volunteering at the RSPB is open to all. We are committed to developing an inclusive RSPB and removing barriers to volunteering. We will try our best to accommodate any requirements you may have, and we will cover all training, equipment and expenses. Please get in touch if you have any questions or need any additional support to complete your application.
