Volunteer Youth Leader – Rhayader Scouts

Overview

We are looking for enthusiastic, reliable volunteers to help supervise and support young people aged 6–14 within our local Scouting sections. You can choose the age group that suits you best:

• Beavers (ages 6–8)

• Cubs (ages 8–10)

• Scouts (ages 10–14)

Role Purpose

To engage young people in fun, meaningful activities that help them develop confidence, teamwork, and practical life skills while working towards their badges.

Key Responsibilities 

• Planning activities that are age‑appropriate and linked to badge requirements

• Supervising young people during weekly sessions

• Supporting outdoor skills such as fire lighting, camping, and hiking

• Assisting with adventurous activities including paddle boarding

• Encouraging teamwork, creativity, and personal development

• Helping to run camps, trips, and community events

• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of all young people

Requirements

• A DBS check (provided and arranged by us)

• Willingness to complete full training

• A positive, supportive attitude and enjoyment of working with young people

• Ability to work as part of a friendly volunteer team
