About the Role 
As Quality Lead (Assessments), you’ll manage a team of Quality Officers and oversee the delivery of external assessments across a range of qualifications. You’ll be responsible for maintaining standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and leading on awarding processes including standard setting, grade boundary recommendations, and data analysis.
 
This role is ideal for someone with extensive assessment experience who understands the nuances of standard setting and is ready to lead a team in a dynamic, remote-first environment.
 
Key Responsibilities 
  • Oversee the delivery of external assessments, including online and paper-based formats
  • Lead awarding processes, including standard setting and grade boundary decisions
  • Manage and develop a team of Quality Officers
  • Monitor assessment data and performance against SLAs
  • Support the recruitment, training, and monitoring of examiners, markers, and EQAs
  • Approve reasonable adjustments and special considerations
  • Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders
  • Champion continuous improvement and contribute to quality assurance initiatives
  Skills / Experience Required 
  • Minimum 12 months’ experience in assessment delivery and awarding within an awarding organisation
  • Strong understanding of external assessment methodologies and standard setting
  • Experience managing staff and/or contractors
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to evaluate and present assessment data
  • Strong communication and time management skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and digital tools
