Radical Circle Lead Role Description

Role type: Anchor

Role purpose

A Circle Lead is the consistent point of contact who keeps the Radical, the plan and the Circle connected. You chair check-ins, hold visibility of milestones and bring in the right Villagers as the Scholarship changes.

Unlike a Specialist Villager who enters for a defined intervention, the Circle Lead provides continuity across the Scholarship. Your job is to make sure the work is coherent, properly sequenced and understandable to the Radical, while Specialists and Anchor Villagers deliver their own defined roles.

You maintain the live Scholarship Plan, understand which phase the Radical is in, recruit and brief appropriate Specialists, make sure outputs travel between interventions and notice when the plan no longer makes sense. You do not become the Radical’s Story, Search, Interview, Self-Advocacy, Mentor, Coach, caseworker or safeguarding lead by default.

What you will do

  • Turn agreed Foundations information into a live Scholarship Plan with the Radical.
  • Keep the plan current as evidence, circumstances, opportunities and priorities change.
  • Distinguish goals, milestones, actions and dependencies so the Scholarship moves deliberately rather than accidentally.
  • Recruit appropriately certified Specialists when there is a defined job for them to do.
  • Brief Specialists properly so the Radical does not have to repeat information the Circle already holds and has permission to use.
  • Chair Circle check-ins that establish what has moved, what has changed, what is stuck and what should happen next.
  • Make sure actions have clear owners and that milestones remain visible without taking over Specialist delivery.
  • Notice drift, duplication, over-support, poor sequencing and repeated non-completion, then adjust the plan proportionately.
  • Coordinate handovers so useful outputs and learning accumulate across the Scholarship.
  • Work appropriately with Professional Mentors and Coaches while respecting the privacy and boundaries of those Anchor relationships.
  • Route safeguarding, practical barriers and issues requiring organisational intervention to the Paid Team promptly.
  • Coordinate transition into work, reduce Specialist activity as the Radical becomes more independent and close the Circle deliberately when the active Scholarship has achieved its purpose.

What you bring

You are organised, reliable and able to see the whole journey without trying to own every part of it. You can hold a plan, notice when it needs to change, communicate clearly with Radicals and Villagers and keep work moving without becoming controlling or over-involved.

Good Circle Leadership requires judgement, information discipline, safeguarding awareness and confidence with boundaries. The standard is not whether you can personally deliver every intervention. It is whether you can make the Village around the Radical more coherent, proportionate and useful.
