Policy Officer

A national health membership body is seeking an experienced Policy Officer for a 12‑week consultancy to deliver a distinct, defined policy project.
This flexible, project‑based role will support policy development through member and stakeholder engagement, evidence gathering and analysis.
 
You will help coordinate engagement opportunities with members, attend sessions, take notes and identify key themes, risks and opportunities. The role will involve drafting analysis and policy content, undertaking desk research (including international examples), and supporting the development of organisational positioning.
 
You’ll also be involved in stakeholder conversations, help draft position statements for internal testing with senior colleagues, and support the drafting of a consultation response, addressing feedback and steers. There may be ad‑hoc policy tasks during the period, such as contributing to briefings and meeting materials.
 
The appointed candidate will have:

• Proven desk‑based research capability, including identifying evidence, best practice and international examples to inform policy positions
• Policy development experience, ideally within health, social care or a membership body, with the ability to deliver defined outputs to tight timescales
• Strong experience of member and stakeholder engagement, including supporting engagement activity, attending sessions, and capturing and synthesising feedback
• Excellent analytical and drafting skills, with experience producing policy analysis, briefings, position statements and consultation responses for senior audiences
• Confidence working independently in a consultancy or project‑based role, responding flexibly to ad‑hoc policy tasks and senior feedback
