Lived Experience Mentor 

Been There is a charity supporting 18+ with body image issues and eating disorders by connecting them with Peer Mentors who have personal experience with these challenges.

Peer Mentor Role: Been There, Peer Mentors are carefully vetted and thoroughly trained with input from clinical leads. The role of a peer mentor is to provide support to mentees, by creating a space for those struggling to open up, listen and provide hope through the power of shared experiences. 

Training and Support: Mentors receive training shaped by both clinical expertise. Every Mentor is vetted, trained by experts, and fully supported by the charity throughout.

What we need from you : 

  • Application process - around 20 minutes to complete
  • Checks - a DBS check and two references
  • Training - 6–8 hours of initially, fully provided at no cost
  • Weekly commitment - 1 to 3 hours per week, over 12 weeks
  • Minimum commitment - 6 months
  • Ongoing support - safeguarding guidance and clinical supervision throughout
