Lead organisational transformation and strategic delivery
Ready to take on a senior leadership role where you can influence strategy, shape organisational change and leave a lasting impact?
We are seeking an exceptional Head of Portfolio Management Office to lead and evolve a developing PMO function at the centre of a significant organisational transformation programme.
This is a unique opportunity to build on strong foundations and help mobilise an ambitious new organisational strategy. Working closely with Executive and Director-level stakeholders, you will provide the leadership, governance and oversight needed to ensure strategic initiatives are prioritised effectively, sequenced appropriately and successfully delivered. The role sits at the heart of strategic decision-making, supporting leaders to translate ambition into action and ensuring change is embedded across the organisation.
Leading a capable team of five project and portfolio professionals, you will provide a clear, organisation-wide view of strategic change, enabling informed investment decisions and strengthening delivery capability across the organisation.
Why this role?
This is far more than a traditional PMO leadership position.
You will inherit a PMO function with strong foundations already in place and play a critical role in its continued development as a centre of excellence for portfolio management, governance, assurance and strategic delivery.
The successful candidate will be equally comfortable operating at Executive level and rolling up their sleeves to solve complex delivery challenges. You will educate, influence and bring colleagues on a journey, helping to embed best practice while maintaining pace across a broad portfolio of business, digital, data and technology-related change initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the vision, operating model and ongoing development of the PMO function, ensuring it supports effective prioritisation, oversight and accountability across the organisation.
Provide organisation-wide leadership of the strategic portfolio, creating a trusted and transparent view of strategic initiatives.
Oversee portfolio intake, prioritisation, dependency management, sequencing and reporting.
Chair and coordinate governance forums, supporting effective investment decisions and strategic prioritisation.
Establish and maintain robust governance, assurance and control frameworks.
Drive accountability for audit and assurance outcomes and support continuous improvement across the portfolio.
Support senior leaders in translating strategic ambitions into deliverable programmes and initiatives.
Drive effective change management, portfolio maturity and benefits realisation.
Strengthen organisational capability through coaching, guidance and the promotion of best practice.
Lead, develop and inspire a high-performing PMO team.
About You
We are interested in hearing from candidates who bring:
Significant experience leading a Portfolio Management Office, Programme Office or strategic delivery function within a complex environment.
Strong expertise in governance, assurance, portfolio management and prioritisation.
Experience supporting senior leaders and influencing strategic decision-making.

Experience developing and embedding portfolio management frameworks, governance and assurance processes.
Knowledge of benefits realisation, organisational change and capacity planning.
Previous people leadership experience with the ability to build and develop high-performing teams.
A practical, hands-on approach combined with strong strategic thinking.

Direct engagement with Executive and Director-level stakeholders.
Flexible working arrangements, including consideration of compressed hours.
A collaborative environment where governance, accountability and delivery excellence are highly valued.
