Our client is looking for an experienced General Advice Officer to join their team in Stonebridge, London Borough of Brent. In this position, you'll provide high-quality welfare advice and guidance on a range of topics including benefits, housing, income maximisation, energy efficiency, and money management.
 
You'll also play a vital role in coordinating referral pathways, supporting advice volunteers, and demonstrating the impact of interventions in transforming the lives of beneficiaries.
 
This is an excellent role for someone who is exceptionally committed and willing to go the extra mile, with flexibility to work during evenings and weekends if necessary.
 
As the General Advice Officer, you'll have the chance to work on-site at least four days per week and be a key part of a team dedicated to supporting vulnerable people.

Salary: £29,000-£32,960 based on experience
Working arrangements: 40 hours/week (including occasional evenings and weekends)
Location: Stonebridge, London Borough of Brent
Employment type: Fixed term until 31 March 2026 - with the possibility of extension

 
Short description of role:
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide holistic and person-centred advice and casework on welfare benefits, housing, employment, health and wellbeing, and money management.
  • Support outreach or community engagement activities as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of advice quality and achieve tangible outcomes.
  • Produce detailed case records and apply for funds to support individuals and families.
  • Empower guests to act for themselves and monitor the progression of all cases to resolution.
  • Support volunteers and manage your own caseload independently.
 
The Successful Candidate:
  • At least two years’ experience delivering effective welfare advice.
  • Strong empathy and understanding of the issues facing vulnerable people.
  • In-depth and up-to-date knowledge of welfare benefits.
  • Ability to establish good relationships with service users and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
 
Skills:
 
Ability to respect and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and prioritise workload.
Ability to manage and support volunteers as part of a team.
