I have extensive experience in the non-profit sector, having been as a fundraiser for six years, successfully raising over £2 million. Prior to this role, I worked in higher education and even managed to get elected to be my Students’ Union President. My passion for creating positive change and making an impact drives my commitment to this sector. I have a degree in Conservation and Environment, which I use as evidence you don’t need a degree to work in fundraising. I am one of the fundraising specialists, with a focus on trusts and foundations, statutory fundraising and major gifts. I often recruit up the head of level. I passionate about providing excellent candidate experience.

I live in the middle of nowhere, and I love it. All I can see from my office window is fields and trees and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I spend my lunchtimes walking my dog, and my weekends fixing (breaking) things on my car, watching rugby in the rain and Formula 1 on the sofa.

Why did you join TPP?

The last two years has seen a huge amount of change in the fundraising landscape, and in my own life. I decided I wanted a new challenge and after extensive conversations with the teams at TPP I decided that I would be a good fit, fortunately the team here agreed. Fundraising is so important for so many charities and having worked in the sector I know how difficult it can be finding the right team members, and I know what it takes to be successful.

Your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievements in fundraising were never the biggest gifts. I enjoy the challenge of turning a no into a yes. If someone gives me a reason why they won’t support a cause I make it my mission to find a suitable reason they should. If they are talking to you, then you are halfway there. Fundraising during COVID presented many challenges, but some opportunities to adapt strategies very quickly. Launching an individual giving campaign raising over £350,000 from 900 donors with three weeks’ notice was excellent!

Unusual fact?

My favourite unusual fact is that “coolth” is a word, it means the opposite of warmth. If you can use it in a sentence I will be thoroughly impressed!

Favourite film or book?

Be My Enemy by Christopher Brookmyre

Tea or coffee?

Coffee in the morning, tea in the evening.
