Volunteer Event Organiser - June's Wish
Are you an experienced events organiser? Would you like to help organise a flagship charity fundraising event taking place in September this year in the Hertfordshire area?
June’s Wish Charity (1216275) is a growing charity dedicated to granting meaningful final wishes for people at the end of their dementia journey. Our work brings comfort, dignity and moments of joy to individuals and families during one of life’s most difficult chapters.
By volunteering with June’s Wish, you’ll be helping us reach more families, grant more wishes, and ensure no one faces the end of their dementia journey without love and dignity.
We’re looking for a kind, enthusiastic volunteer to support us with planning and delivering an exciting event.
You will need to be located in the Hertfordshire area; be able to travel reliably to a venue that may not be easy to access via public transport.
Some of the things you will be involved in are:
- Helping plan and promote awareness of a flagship fundraising event.
- Supporting on the day (liaising with the venue team; welcoming guests, performers; speakers; organising a raffle/auctions, set-up and pack-down)
- Being a friendly face and ambassador for the charity
Supporting role spec
Key Tasks
- Assisting with the creation of detailed event plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Implementing detailed event plans in a timely and professional manner
- Sourcing, negotiating and liaising with venues, caterers, decorators, entertainers, and other vendors.
- Overseeing event setup, technical requirements, transportation, and on-site operations.
- Developing promotional strategies and working with the Social Media Lead to create captivating social media campaigns, and coordinate advertising to boost attendance.
- Tracking expenses, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and maintaining financial records.
- Leading and supporting on the day of the event to ensure a smooth and memorable experience for attendees
- Supervising event volunteers, and contractors to ensure smooth execution.
- Ensuring health and safety regulations, permits, and insurance requirements are met.
- Gathering feedback, analysing performance, and preparing a report for future improvements.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong Experience of planning, coordinating, and delivering events, campaigns, or community initiatives.
- A creative and can-do approach
- Familiarity with fundraising or donor-focused events.
- Experience of coordinating event volunteers
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines, logistics, and stakeholders.
- Competence in using spreadsheets, event management tools, or CRM systems.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, GDPR, and health & safety considerations for events.
- Experience of collaboratively producing promotional or campaign content
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Creativity and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to evaluate event success and provide actionable recommendations.
