What will you be doing

Kairos is entering a defining chapter. As we finalise our next five-year strategy, we’re focused on deepening our impact and strengthening our financial resilience — so we can keep showing up for women who face some of the harshest injustices in our society. We’re not chasing growth for growth’s sake. Our priority is sustainability: building a diverse, reliable income base, improving our systems, and ensuring every financial decision reflects our mission and values.

As Treasurer, you’ll be central to this work — leading Board-level financial oversight, reviewing monthly management accounts, supporting statutory submissions, and helping shape an effective fundraising and finance strategy alongside the CEO, Finance Lead and Fundraising & Development Lead.

You’ll help us:

  • Strengthen and diversify our income, with a clear eye on long-term sustainability
  • Improve financial policies, processes, and planning
  • Ensure compliance, transparency and sound decision-making at every level

Main Responsibilities

  • Leading the Board’s financial scrutiny, risk oversight, and reporting
  • Reviewing monthly management accounts and providing financial updates to the Board
  • Overseeing annual accounts and submissions to the Charity Commission and Companies House
  • Working with senior management staff to improve financial systems, policies, and controls
  • Supporting the development and delivery of a sustainable fundraising strategy
  • Ensuring clear financial communication to help trustees make informed decisions

Who we are looking for

You don’t need to be a qualified accountant — but you do need to be financially confident, methodical, and aligned with our values. You’ll be experienced in management accounting and comfortable working with platforms like QuickBooks or similar software.

We’re especially keen to hear from women who:

  • Have experience in finance, accounting, or charity financial management
  • Can produce and interpret budgets, forecasts and management accounts
  • Understand the charity reporting landscape and financial compliance
  • Are excited to help shape ethical fundraising and income diversification strategies
  • Can communicate financial information clearly to non-specialists

Lived experience and inclusion

We want our Board to reflect the diversity of the women we support. We strongly encourage applications from Black, minoritised and migrant women; disabled women; lesbian and bisexual women; and working-class women.

Your voice will be valued in a culture that centres lived experience, inclusion, and collective leadership.

What you’ll bring

  • A commitment to feminist values and Kairos’ mission
  • Confidence with budgeting, management accounts and charity finance
  • Experience using finance software (QuickBooks or similar)
  • An understanding of (or willingness to learn about) income diversification in the charity sector
  • A collaborative, curious mindset and a desire to make systems work better
  • Time and reliability to support consistent, thoughtful financial governance

What difference will you make

By joining our all-female Board, you will get to support the strategic development of the organisation as it evolves. You will also get a great insight into the workings of a grassroots frontline organisation making a vital difference in the lives of the women we support.
