Life's a Beach
Festival Litter-Picking Crew
Welcome to the clean-up dream team! You’re helping keep the festival awesome, safe, and not ankle-deep in glitter and cups. Here’s everything you need to know to smash your shift and still enjoy the vibes.

The Basics
What am I actually doing? You’re a litter legend. Your mission: pick up rubbish, keep the site tidy, and help the festival look its best.
Who am I representing? Our charity, Life’s a Beach, so this weekend you’re basically a walking good-vibes ambassador. Friendly faces = big impact.
Who’s in charge? Your team leaders. They know what’s up, where to go, and how to help if things get weird. You can contact your team leaders at any time via whatsapp or come and find us in the Life’s a Beach HQ.
Will I be on my own?
No way! We’re all about teamwork, so you’ll be placed in a group of four. This will be your crew for the weekend — there to help, support, and keep the good vibes going. We don’t want anyone working solo, so please stick with your team while you’re on shift.
Shifts & Showing Up
When should I arrive? On time or a little early (gold star energy ). You’ll need to sign in and get your briefing.
Running late or can’t make it? Let your team leader know ASAP. Ghosting is for haunted houses, not volunteer teams. Just a heads up, being seriously late or missing shift will mean you lose your ticket deposit, and no one wants that.
Do I really have to do all my shifts? Yep! The festival relies on you. Emergencies happen, so just communicate.
You’ll be scheduled for 3x shifts across the 5 day weekend, giving you at least 1 full day to enjoy the festival! Oh - and you’ll have evenings off to go and catch the live acts
Where do I sign in?
You’ll start every shift at Life’s a Beach HQ (marked on your map). Come here to pick up your kit, meet your team, and get the lowdown for the shift ahead. You’ll need to sign in at the start and sign out at the end of each shift so we know everyone is safe, accounted for, and out there being a litter hero
Work Now, Party Later
Can I watch bands or party during my shift? Sadly, no. Shift time = tidy time. Save the dancing for after.
Can I drink alcohol on shift? Nope. Sober superheroes only
What about drugs? Hard no. Illegal substances are not part of the clean-up kit.
How to Be a Top-Tier Human
How should I treat people? Be kind, respectful, and chill. You’re representing the charity, so think wholesome festival energy.
What if someone asks me something random? If you don’t know, no stress, point them to staff or info points with a smile.
Can I argue with rude people? Nope. You’re too cool for that. If something escalates, leave that situation or call your team leader asap.
Safety First, Always
Do I get equipment? Of course. We’ll give you everything you need: grabbers, bags, gloves, the works.
Do I have to wear the gloves? Absolutely. Mystery festival goo is not your friend.
Found something scary (needles, glass, weird stuff)? Remember your training. If you’re not sure though, no stress your team leader will know what to do.
See a hazard or injury? Report it straight away. You’re part of the safety net. We are a big team here at Life’s a Beach and we look out for each other.
While You’re On Duty
Can I use my phone? Keep it minimal. TikTok can wait; rogue litter cannot.
Do I need to wear ID or uniform bits? Make sure you’re wearing your Life’s a Beach t-shirt and our blue high-vis. It helps people know you’re official and fabulous.
Do we get breaks? Of course! Follow your team leader’s instructions so everyone gets a breather.
Look After Yourself
What should I wear? Comfy clothes, sensible shoes, weather-ready layers. Festivals = four seasons in one day.
Should I bring water? Yes please. Hydrated heroes perform better.
Feeling unwell or overwhelmed? Tell your team leader immediately. No suffering in silence.
If Something Goes Wrong
Harassment, conflict, or bad vibes? Report it. We want this to be safe and positive for everyone.
Got questions or concerns? Your team leaders are there to help, so seriously, use them.
Final Word
You’re doing something genuinely brilliant! You’re helping the planet, supporting the festival, and making a visible difference.
Work hard, be kind, stay safe… and then go enjoy the festival guilt-free
