The main duties of these jobs are managing the reception area, ensuring the smooth entry of all visitors and colleagues to the building, and handling all telephone enquiries, ensuring calls are dealt with quickly, efficiently and professionally. Other Receptionist duties can include ordering stationary, organising couriers, producing presentations and reports, managing room diaries and taking minutes.

Although no formal qualifications are required for Receptionist jobs, they require excellent verbal and written communication skills and good organisational skills, along with confidence and reliability. Many non profit organisations require experience of working in an office environment and depending on the size of the organisation they can also require experience of working with complex switchboards.
