The overall objective of a Publications Officer is to manage the production of a wide range of publications and other materials for an organisation both online and offline that contribute to raising their profile and awareness. These can vary depending on the reader, but will generally cover a range of the organisation’s stakeholders, internal and external, from recipients of the organisation’s services to potential donors and volunteers.
Acting as the organisation’s lead publishing advisor, Publications Managers will be responsible for the implementation of its branding policies. A Publications Manager’s job description includes the successful supervision of the entire publishing process and maintaining and reporting on production standards and targets.
Depending on the size of the organisation, some Publications Managers work alongside external agencies, to effectively deliver various materials, such as reports, posters, leaflets, brochures and website copy.
