Coin Street is a social enterprise on the South Bank and our aim is to make our neighbourhood a great place to live, work in, and visit. We work to enable people of all ages to actively engage in education, play, sports, health, arts and their community.
All of our activities are free or affordable and aim to encourage our community to meet new people, be active, learn and have fun. Our classes, workshops and groups are highly inclusive and cater for expectant parents, babies and toddlers, children and young people, older people and adults of all ages and abilities.
Our Community Programmes team develop, deliver and manage a wide range of high quality youth groups, sports, arts and leisure programmes and events for those living and working in the South Bank and Bankside areas.
Wednesday Youth Club
Volunteer at these busy and fun sessions for young people (8-12years), they take part in a variety of activities including arts and crafts, cookery, drama and sports tasters. The sessions take place on Wednesday evenings, 6.30-8pm.
The activities are steered by the ideas of the young people and the sessions give them an opportunity to relax and chat in a friendly space.
We are looking for enthusiastic and approachable volunteers who can help run and lead activities and games. No previous experience is necessary.
1.To support the Manager and team of staff in facilitating a high quality youth provision.
2.To assist in providing activities for children and young people that are safe, interesting and enjoyable.
3.To ensure the provision meets the physical, intellectual, social and emotional needs of young people.
4.Commitment to working in partnership with parents/carers, colleagues, professionals and stakeholders.
5.To be aware of the need to ensure the health and safety of young people. To work to all
6.relevant health and safety requirements.
7.To be available during evening/weekends to facilitate youth activities and special events.
8.Adhere to relevant policies and procedures.
To undertake other duties such as are consistent with this role.

Volunteers are expected to provide support for each other, to cover for each other's areas of work during absences, to share information and to contribute generally to the smooth running of the activities. Volunteers may also be required to undertake other duties within their capabilities. For reasons of health and safety, the Group operates a no smoking policy within its buildings.
*Good standard of education to GCSE and Satisfactory Enhanced DBS disclosure
Knowledge & Understanding:
*Ability to relate to and work with young people and others both as individuals and in groups, encouraging their participation and promoting their active involvement.
*Understanding of safeguarding procedures and the ability to use these in practice
*Ability to work as part of a team in a positive and co-operative way, to learn from others and contribute to the development of the team.
*An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and the ability to deal sensitively with data.
*Understanding of the learning and developmental needs of children and young people and ability to plan and deliver services appropriate to their needs and interests.
*Ability to deliver services taking into consideration special needs, gender, and families' ethnic, cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Ability & Skills:
*Demonstrate positive, controlled and consistent behaviour even in crisis situations.
*Demonstrate sensitivity, respect and kindness towards children and young people ensuring their needs are met.
*Commitment to attend essential training courses as and when required.
*Good language communication skills, both written and verbal
