TPP's client; the UK's leading Carer's charity are seeking a Welfare Officer to join their highly skilled and thriving team.

Our client is based in Berkshire, where they support Carers in the community to access appropriate information, advice and support to improve carer health and well-being and the caring-role. There are over 75,000 unpaid adult carers in Berkshire and an estimated 63,000 young carers are looking after someone with age frailty, disability, addiction or illness.

The role of Welfare Officer is funded by Bracknell Forest Council and its purpose is to support unpaid/ family carers by providing information and advice, conducting carers' assessments with the view to register carers to an Emergency Respite Scheme, enabling carers to access carers' grant, support groups, lunches and events.

The successful candidate will take an active role in the delivery of the service; this will include actively developing links across organisations and professionals within the voluntary and public sectors to enable identification of new carers and referrals in to the services. All carers are referred to our client's helpline team for initial registration and receipt of information & Advice, newsletter and links to support groups.

This job involves conducting home visits throughout the Bracknell Forest area in addition to work across partner organisations and in community settings. Home visits are offered to complete carers' assessments, registration on the Emergency Respite Scheme and carers' grant forms.

This is a key role in the organisation therefor it is fundamental that the successful candidate meet all essential criteria below.

To be considered for this role you will need to be a graduate level in a relevant discipline e.g. social work, Psychology etc., have exceptional assessment and report writing skills and experience, with excellent written, aural and oral skills 1:1 and presentation). Strong IT skills in order to research, email & use social media is required. You will need to have a demonstrable capability of loan working, good understanding of the issues unpaid carers face and understanding of the primary grants and welfare benefits relevant to carers. It is also essential that you are familiar with the main changes for carers arising from the Care Act 2014 and have a good understanding of the terms 'respite'
