Our client, a niche learning disabilities charity is seeking to employ a Welfare Coordinator to join their dynamic team.
Our client has been established as a specialist learning disability charity for over 50 years with specific focus on developing the rights of people with learning disabilities and ensuring their voices are heard.
The Welfare Coordinator job is a pivotal role in achieving the charities mission. The role entails providing information, practical support and advocacy to adults with learning disabilities, learning difficulties and/ or autism across Greenwich. The coordinator will be responsible for providing one to one support at adults in order to enable them to access information and support them to live their daily life to the maximum with self-determination and independence.
The successful candidate will be part of the welfare team who are targeted on reaching out to a minimum of 150 vulnerable adults in the Royal London Borough of Greenwich per year. This post offers a variety of tasks some including; partnership working with adults with learning disabilities, professionals, parents and carers , signpost and referring adults with learning difficulties to other services in accordance with their needs and wishes, contributing to the co-ordination and delivery of monthly information and support surgeries as a variety of specialist settings and community venues.
The ideal candidate for this role will be educated to degree level in a relevant field such as health, education or social care; they will be able to evidence their understanding of the needs and rights of adults with learning disabilities, difficulties and/or autism. Be able to demonstrate that they have experience in using a variety of information sources and the successful candidate will have proven advocacy skills in this sector. Personal qualities require for this job are; people centered, personable and flexible.
