Welfare Benefit Officer
Temporary - 6 months fixed term
TPP's client, a leading housing association is seeking an experienced Welfare Benefit Officer to work out of one of their London offices.
The basis of the role will be to provide financial assessments of the tenants circumstances in order to provide specialist welfare benefit advice/ debt counselling to tenants and prospective tenants. Along with reviews on income and expenditure for new nominations to assess whether they are able to sustain a tenancy.
A major part of the role will be to establish links and regular liaison with Local Authority Housing benefit departments, follow up and record all outcomes from benefit referrals and maintain accurate database records and work closely with colleagues to achieve team targets on rent arrears, sustaining tenancies and maximising the organisation income stream.
To be considered for this role you will need to have a minimum of 3 years' experience advising on benefits within a Local Authority Housing benefit department or Housing Association or DWP or Advice Agency or similar. You will need to have thorough and applied knowledge of housing benefit assessment and other Welfare benefits.
