Volunteer Swim Safe Co-ordinator
Swim England and the RNLI are working in partnership to deliver Swim Safe for the fourth successive year. In 2016, this programme saw over 7,000 children participate and learn how to be safe in different water environments. This year we are also delivering a school’s programme.
In 2017, the programme will provide 20,000 spaces for children around the UK coastline and we will be looking for volunteers in the following locations:
Shore Road, Poole, between 6 June and 22 August*
Central Beach, Weymouth, between 12 - 14 July
The programme offers free improver swimming sessions and beach safety advice for children aged 7-14. Most young people learn to swim in an indoor pool which is a safe and familiar environment. Swim Safe gives young people the opportunity to test and improve their swimming ability in a different aquatic environment.
Children are being offered the opportunity to attend the free 45-minute session which will include beach safety advice provided by RNLI lifeguards and up to 30 minutes in-water tuition with Swim England accredited teachers. The programme is weather dependent and sessions will be adjusted accordingly.
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers who would like to get involved in a variety of different activities throughout the day to ensure that the events are successful and all children and parents have a great experience. For example, activities might include co-ordinating bookings and swimmer registrations, distributing goodie bags, assisting with feedback questionnaires and helping the children with their wetsuits and swimming equipment if required. Whether it’s one of these activities or more, your assistance will be very much appreciated and ensure that the Swim Safe Team are able to provide this fantastic opportunity to children to help to keep them safe in the water.
This is a great volunteer opportunity for someone who is friendly and approachable; if you have some of the skills mentioned or would like to gain experience in this type of role and would like to join a dedicated and motivated team, we would be delighted to hear from you.
Please apply online or for further information contact the RNLI’s Volunteering Team on 01202 663346 or by email on firstname.lastname@example.org
*For early dates in June we urgently require volunteers so please apply asap as these applications will be directed to the Swim Safe team following completion online.
We value diversity at TPP and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
