Volunteer Re-use & Recycling Resources co-ordinator
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. It relies on public generosity to fund its lifesaving service and takes stewardship of funds very seriously. In order to run a sustainable, efficient and modern organisation refits and upgrades of equipment and resources are essential. The Business Support Team is keen to ensure that we take a responsible approach to making good use of any surplus resources that result from these changes.
With this in mind, the RNLI is looking for a motivated individual who would like to join the RNLI as a Volunteer Re-use & Recycling Resources co-ordinator at the RNLI HQ in Poole. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is interested in volunteering in a busy environment across a range of teams.
You will support the asset management process by setting up a framework to establish the current and likely obsolete resources generated by HQ functions & projects. You will gather information about obsolete resources, and where feasible recover value. When an income cannot be achieved, a key objective is to be build relationships with other organisations and communities that could benefit from the RNLI’s obsolete resources. You will also help to create and manage a database to assist the co-ordination of resource availability, storage, maintenance and allocation.
Good organisational and communication skills will be important and competent use of email and spreadsheets essential. Your creative problem solving skills will be put to good use and any local community connections that you have can be built upon. You will receive all of the role specific training required to enable you to carry out the role upon commencement.
This new role will be an interesting way of gaining valuable experience, meeting a wide range of people both from within the RNLI as well as in local community groups, and making a real difference.
