Volunteer Outreach Support Officer - Role Description
Healthwatch Wandsworth represents the views of patients, service users and carers with local commissioners and providers of health and social care services. Healthwatch is operated by Wandsworth Care Alliance (WCA) a local charity and is a member-led organisation.
We are looking for a volunteer to support our Outreach officers; someone who is willing to travel to different locations in the borough of Wandsworth You may be required to carry some promotional materials to the events.
An outgoing personality, good people skills and the ability to both talk and listen to what those in the community have to say about health and social care in Wandsworth. The ability to take accurate notes that capture what was discussed at events and meetings (in essence). A generally willing, 'can-do', attitude along with a keen interest in working in the health and social care or charity sectors.
Ongoing, but a minimum of 3 months commitment, anything from 3-7 hours a week (or as required).
Healthwatch Development & Engagement Officer
*Observe the Volunteers' Code of Conduct;
*Accompany the Healthwatch Development & Engagement Officer to different events and meetings in the borough;
*Engage with members of the community in attendance at the above events;
*Record group discussions and individual comments from service users about health and social care;
*Distribute and collect Healthwatch Membership forms at events;
*Log new Healthwatch members on Mailchimp (training will be provided);
*Collate and format public comments into a document that's easy-to-read so that they can later be logged on the Healthwatch Hub (an information bank);
*Be willing to carry membership forms, leaflets and other items to events, if required;
*Ability to follow instructions and guidance, but also to work independently when appropriate.
Please note that this is an unpaid position. We are looking for a volunteer who is available 3-7 hours per week. Although this position is unpaid, we offer excellent references upon the successful completion of your assignment. Please note: An enhanced DBS (disclosure and barring service) check is required for this role, which we will pay for.

*Induction and support from a supervisor;
*Supervision will be proportionate to the volunteers' time commitment, minimum of monthly for the first three months;
*All supervision will be recorded; a formal supervision session will be held annually with the supervisor.
