Job Description - EXPIRED

This role covers the following locations: Bishop Auckland/Spennymoor, Consett/Shotley Bridge, Darlington, Durham, Houghton le Spring, Lanchester, Peterlee, Seaham, Sedgefield, Stanley, Sunderland and Washington

The RNLI has a network of local fundraising branches organising a wide range of activities and events which last year raised £14 million to save lives at sea.  Each branch is supported by a Community Fundraising Manager although the range and frequency of fundraising events is determined by the branch members themselves.

Becoming part of your local fundraising branch could offer you an opportunity to improve your CV, meet new people, learn new skills or just have fun with fundraising in your community.   Some of our branch members have been volunteering for many years, some just join us for a few months – whatever their commitments allow.

One new fundraising initiative which has recently taken off is “Betty’s 5p Pots” for which we use recycled miniature (single portion) jam jars.  By recycling these into individual collection boxes for 5p pieces and loose change, we can generate fundraising income to support our volunteer lifeboat crews.  To support this recent project we have a specific opportunity below:

Do you like getting out and about meeting people but have limited free time to commit to volunteering?  If so, helping us to collect miniature jam jars might be for you.  You can do this on a flexible basis fitting it in with your normal routine.

The role involves approaching new outlets and requesting their support to donate empty miniature jam jars.  Once on board, all you have to do is collect the jars at different intervals fitting this around your own time.  Some jars will be clean and others may need a clean-up but once that is done, the jars will be ready for passing to another member of the team for distribution.  Some of the identified outlets may also wish to participate with this project, and if that is the case, their details should be added to a list of participants.

If you have a positive outlook and a friendly disposition we would love to hear from you.  Good communication skills when approaching the different outlets will ensure that the outlets understand the project and want to get involved to help us reduce drowning across the UK and Ireland.

All of the training needed to carry out this role will be provided; this is a great way to support the RNLI within your community and help us to continue to save more lives at sea.

We value diversity at TPP and welcome applications from all sections of the community.
