|Job Title||Volunteer Deputy Launching Authority - Whitstable - EXPIRED|
|Contract Type||Temporary / Interim|
|Job Published||09 May 2017|
|Contact Name||Volunteers Team|
The RNLI is the charity that saves lives at sea. We provide, on call, a 24 hour lifeboat search and rescue service around the UK and Ireland, and a seasonal lifeguard service. With our lifeboats, lifeguards, safety messages and flood rescue we are committed to saving more lives.
The RNLI’s Lifeboat Station in Whitstable is looking for a volunteer to take on the role of Deputy Launching Authority.
Whitstable was one of the first 10 inshore lifeboat stations in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The crew have received four awards for gallantry, and also been recognised by Her Majesty The Queen in the honours lists. The Lifeboat Station is currently looking for a Deputy Launching Authority to join the existing team.
The role of DLA is to authorise launch of the lifeboat, provide leadership in the absence of the Lifeboat Operations Manager or as delegated and ensure that all operational activities are carried out to maintain the lifeboat and all associated equipment in a constant state of readiness for launching on service.
This is a good opportunity to join a motivated and enthusiastic local team and have the satisfaction of contributing to saving lives at sea.
If you are a team player with leadership skills and local maritime knowledge this could be the role for you. You must live or work within 5 - 8 miles of the station and be between 17 and 70 years of age.
This is a volunteer opportunity within the RNLI. RNLI volunteers are people who, unpaid and of their own free will, contribute their time, energy and skills to support the purposes of the RNLI. RNLI volunteers may perform a variety of tasks and duties, under direction and guidance, using their skills, knowledge and time to help the RNLI best achieve its objectives.
We respect and honour our volunteers by building trust and understanding. Such a partnership is not intended to be a legally binding contract or to have mutuality of obligation, but instead express a voluntary two-way commitment where everyone gains satisfaction from being part of our organisation.
