JDRF fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1. We work with government, academia and industry to accelerate research in the UK and within healthcare policy to ensure that the outcomes of research are delivered to people with type 1 in the UK. And we give support and a voice to people with type 1 and their families. Join us in creating a world without type 1 diabetes.
What will I be doing? Fundraising from Charitable Trusts and Foundations is a key activity within the JDRF Fundraising Department. The activity is currently led by a Trusts Manager, with some limited support from a Fundraiser. In the current year we expect to bank about £600k, but this significant figure is only possible due to several large, multiannual grants that come to an end this year. In order to maintain or grow income, we need to identify additional trusts that have the potential to provide grants either for our medical research programme or for our outreach activities.
The key task we want a volunteer to do is to research new grant giving trusts and to assess their propensity to fund our charitable objectives.
How will this benefit JDRF? This role will be conducting much-needed research into new funding opportunities from trusts, helping the Trust Manager to develop a robust pipeline and secure new funding in the coming years.
How will this benefit me?
When do you need me? At least two days per week, for minimum three months
Where is this role based? Flexible, at least one day per week in the office (not Friday)
What training will I receive? Full training from Trusts Manager; CRM training (Donor Flex)
What are my goals? Research 40 trusts per month (resulting in five good leads)
All Trusts added to DonorFlex
Pro forma completed for ‘good leads’ i.e. those Trusts who look like they have the interest and ability to fund JDRF charitable activity.
What skills and attributes do I need?
What support is available to me? Regular 121s with Trusts Manager; allocated staff buddy to help better understand type 1
