Do you have the enthusiasm and skills to shape the future of advice services for communities across Lewisham?
The charity Citizens Advice Lewisham provides advice to some of the most vulnerable groups in our area, and helps to gain access to justice, prevent homelessness, tackle discrimination, resolve debt problems, and maximise incomes. We campaign to bring about improvements for local people, from tackling illegal money lending to compiling evidence on domestic violence.
These are challenging times for the voluntary sector as we deal with the impact of changes in our funding, and the need to respond to and develop new ways to deliver our advice and services. There is a real opportunity to both contribute to this process and develop new skills as part of our Trustee Board.
We are seeking two new Trustees to join our charity board:
Treasurer (and Chair of Finance Sub-committee)
As Treasurer, and Chair of the Finance Sub-committee of our charity, you'll be helping to make the decisions about how we make sure our work responds to the needs of local communities, is always of the highest quality, and makes the best use of the resources we have available.
Trustee (Human Resources and Chair of People Sub-committee)
As a Trustee with a Human Resources (HR) specialism and Chair of the People Sub-committee of our charity, you’ll apply your expertise in employment law and HR to ensure the highest standards of governance to help Citizens Advice Lewisham make a difference to its clients. You’ll work with the People Sub-committee to ensure effective governance in recruitment, employee relations, reward and recognition, performance management, retention as well as staff and trustee development.
We need people who can help direct Citizens Advice Lewisham towards achieving its mission and ensure the organisation is effectively managed. You would need to be able to make a significant commitment to Citizens Advice Lewisham and devote the necessary time; have strategic vision, independent judgement, an ability to think creatively, a willingness to speak your mind and a commitment to enable our leadership team to thrive and excel.
You’ll be working with a friendly, talented and multidisciplinary team of Trustees, and alongside our new Chief Executive and staff and volunteer team. You'll get the opportunity to develop your leadership skills, be involved in influencing change at a strategic level, and make a real difference to the lives of people across our borough.
We're keen to make sure we hear the voice of the whole community in Lewisham, so welcome applications from people from all walks of life regardless of ethnicity, disability, age, gender, sexual orientation or religion.
Application: CV highlighting relevant skills and experience you will bring to the role along with a cover note briefly explaining why you would like to be a trustee of Lewisham CAB and how you demonstrate the skills and qualities we are looking for.
Closing date: 5 May 2017
Interviews: 15, 16, 17 May 2017
