Job Description - EXPIRED

The Mary Ward Settlement, founded in the 1890s to ‘promote public education and social service for the benefit of the community’ thrives today in Central London as the Mary Ward Adult Education Centre and the Mary Ward Legal Centre.  Both Centres enjoy excellent reputations for the quality of their work.

We are looking for trustees to serve on the Integrated Boards of the Settlement and Legal Centre. Do you have demonstrable leadership qualities? Are you committed to using your skills to help improve the skills and wellbeing of others?

We are looking for people who share our vision of a society that promotes access to justice and education for adult learners across London.  You could play an important part in the running of an established, dynamic and innovative Third Sector organisation.  You would join a strong and productive Board with legal, strategic, governance and public policy skills.  You would be expected to attend 3-4 evening board meetings and 2 strategy days in London each year.

Ideally, you will have skills and strategic experience in marketing /PR/sales and/or fundraising.  However, other qualities and qualifications which are desirable include business acumen and experience of financial management, perhaps in small to medium sized organisations.  An understanding of adult education or the provision of free legal advice would be particularly helpful.

We welcome applications from members of minority ethnic groups, who are currently under-represented amongst our trustees.
