Job Description - EXPIRED

Are you interested in helping to improve children and young people’s emotional wellbeing and mental health?

YoungMinds is looking for people with skills in and experience of employment law, social media campaigning, marketing or business development to become Trustees.

YoungMinds is the UK’s leading charity promoting children and young people’s mental health and wellbeing. We work with government, commissioners and practitioners to improve services and address the causes of mental ill health. We support parents through our helpline and run training courses for professionals. Young people’s views and experiences drive our policy, research, education and campaigns.

Many thousands of children and young people are isolated, unhappy, have eating disorders and self-harm; some tragically take their own lives. Many are likely to become victims of crime, grow up in dysfunctional families, or left to cope with illness, drugs and/or alcohol issues – not necessarily their own.

There is still a huge stigma around mental health which means children and young people are not getting the support they need. Mental health problems can lead to young people being disruptive, difficult, withdrawn and disturbed and it’s vital they are supported and not ignored.

We are seeking to recruit two or three additional trustees works closely with the Senior Management Team to lead the organisation’s strategic planning and development. YoungMinds has an active Board of Trustees who meet five times a year and trustees can participate in other committees.

This is a busy and exciting time to join the organisation as mental health is now high up the government agenda and YoungMinds has a crucial role to play in this.

In line with YoungMinds' safeguarding children and vulnerable adults policy, all Trustees with YoungMinds will be subject to an enhanced disclosure and barring service check.
