Privacy International (PI) is a London-based charity who promotes the human right of privacy. Its goal is to ensure that surveillance is consistent with the rule of law, to raise awareness about technologies and laws that place privacy at risk, and to ensure that the public is informed and engaged. PI works to strengthen the capacity of its partners in developing countries and works with international organisations to protect the most vulnerable.
The primary responsibility of the Board is to provide strategic leadership for the organisation by formulating and regularly reviewing its strategic aims in consultation with the senior staff, setting overall policy, regularly evaluating the charity's performance and ensuring that it complies with UK law. PI's Board meets on a quarterly basis in London and the fulfilment of Trustees' duties is unlikely to exceed 10 hours per month.
To complete its numbers, the board is now looking for two individuals with:
• Demonstrable commitment to PI’s objectives
• Organisational leadership experience and/or experience of serving on Boards.
• An appropriate and diverse set of skills, including members with experience in strategic planning, fundraising, international NGO operations, communications and charity law.
