FareShare South West is a Charity that believes that no good food should go to waste. When we saw the problem of food waste and food poverty we found a solution. We redistribute surplus food to charities and community organisations who turn it into meals and food parcels for the most vulnerable people in the region.  We supply good quality, fresh food to over 150 organisations who work with vulnerable people in the South West. About the Role
The role is to support the FareShare South West team in the delivery of its social media strategy, and in particular to monitor and manage our social media channels (namely Facebook and Twitter) and recording this activity according to our documenting requirements.  Ideally, we are looking for someone who is able to spread their commitment in a ‘little and often’ approach - between 4-7 hours a week, spread over different days.  This will ensure support of interactions and responses to queries online.

Duties include:

  • Work with colleagues to help plan and implement online marketing campaigns that drive engagement, traffic and donations across social media, search engine optimisation and PR.
  • Source and produce engaging content from the team and network to ensure social media channels are up to date, relevant and interesting.
  • Drive and manage social media campaigns from content creation, to measurement of campaign success.
  • Proofread content, including social media posts, blog articles
  • Help to increase reach rates and online promotion of events and campaigns
  • Administration of press and fundraising campaigns, to increase uptake of micro donations and regular giving

What skills, qualities and experience are required for this role?

  • You must have a passion for all things social and digital
  • Computer literacy, familiar with Microsoft & image editing software
  • Social Media channel management and content creation experience, ideally within a commercial or third-sector environment
  • Applicants must have good written skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Experience of writing and proofreading
  • A genuine interest in the Food Waste and Charitable sector will be beneficial

What is the time commitment expected?

  • Ideally a regular commitment of hours between 4-7 hours per week, ideally spread across different days to support consistency of communications

Where is the position based?
FSSW’s office is based in central Bristol.  Ideally, you will be based in Bristol or live within easily commutable distance to enable visits to the office as required.  Due to the little and often nature of the role, you will not be required to be based at the office to perform your tasks but occasional face-to-face meetings will be required.
