Senior Support Worker – Housing and Support

Croydon

£24,000 per annum

37.5 hours per week

About the Organisation:

TPP’s client, a leading homelessness charity in London, provide supported housing for homeless people. They provide solutions to homelessness through shelter, support and advice to over 1500 each year across four London Boroughs.

The Role:

The aim of the role is to support and empower customers to increase their life skills, self-management and confidence to successfully sustain independent living. This is achieved through the provision of individualised support, tailored to the specific needs of the homeless adults and young people who use the service. The service you will be based at is for homeless and rough sleeping men and women with complex needs, predominantly with substance use issues and/or mental health. Each Senior Support Worker co-ordinates the support clients; they provide intensive key working supplemented by in-reach provided by specialist agencies relating to alcohol or drug use, mental health or physical health needs.

About you:

As well as having experience of supporting vulnerable people to achieve independent living, you must have a clear understanding of why people become homeless, and the needs and challenges they face. You will be required to take on a caseload of customers, with responsibility for key working, and co-ordinating support packages. You will be part of a dedicated and supportive team, and so will need to demonstrate a positive and inclusive approach. You must be able to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and be competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
