The leading promoting scholarship of Muslim cultures and societies, historical as well as contemporary, leading to a better understanding of their relationship with other societies and faiths are looking for an Interim Senior Academic and Student Support Services Officer for student and academic administration to meet a growing number of graduate students' pastoral and other non-academic needs and welfare.
This role will be for a minimum of 3months to cover a period of long term absence and will be full time at a salary equivalent to £28k.There may also be a permanet opportunity with this role.
The role the post holder to have a good understanding of the administrative processes sustaining the student journey and will play a key role in the day to day delivery of the student support service, with a focus on the department's admissions, recruitment, orientation and general student services functions
The post holder will be required to use an innovative and effective student data system in order to maximise and enhance services to students and staff across the department.
Other duties will include:
1.To coordinate the admissions process for students as directed by the line manager, from the point of enquiry to processing the applications; communicating with applicants at all stages and issuing the CAS letters.
2.To maintain comprehensive student records, including maintaining third year monitoring updates and providing reports.
3.Co-ordinate the orientation; provide information and advice on living in London to the new cohort each year.
4.In collaboration with the marketing team, to develop a marketing strategy, coordinate the production and delivery of marketing materials and coordinate marketing activities worldwide.
5.Organising the students' educational field trips; language immersion trips; field research trips and repatriation flights.
6.Respond to general student queries, and write all official letters required by students, such as those for the Home Office, Local Council, student IDs, NHS registration, including non-academic reference letters.
7.Organize student representative elections and coordinate or support the organization of student socials and cultural activities.
8.Coordinate and maintain the department's contracts with the International Students House, University of Westminster Counselling Services, Transport for London Discount Scheme and external libraries; and ensure staff and students have information on these services.
9.Contribute as a team member to Student Services related tasks such as graduation, accommodation, production of the student handbook, as assigned by and in consultation with the Senior Academic and Student Support Services Manager.
10.Representing the department at website meetings; ensuring the relevant programmes' pages are updated regularly and write news stories associated with the department.
Essential criteria for the role include:
*Good understanding of UK student immigration and compliance requirements and the implications for service delivery, including QAA and UKBA policies and procedures..
*Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports for a variety of audiences.
*Experience of issuing CAS letters.
*Managing and using student record systems.
