Job Description - EXPIRED

Are you looking to further your career as a Residential Childcare Worker? We are looking for someone to work in a 4 bedded residential children's home for an organisation that specialises in therapeutic childcare for children and young people. As a key member of the care and support team you will be expected to work autonomously and as part of a team in order to deliver exceptional support and ensure the commitment of providing a high standard of care. You will join a friendly team and have the opportunity to work with other Residential Care Workers in a fantastic organisation based in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

The organisation has a long history in child protection and their years of experience has shown that high quality therapeutic childcare assists children and young people to learn and deal with their past experiences and prepare for the future. The key function for this role is to assist in the care of children with challenging behaviour who have gone through abuse and negative experiences and to encourage each young person to be involved in all aspects of their care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • To take a child-centred approach in providing high quality care that enables each young person to grow and develop.
  • Be an active and willing participant in all team activities.
  • You will be required to sleep-in as part of a shift in order to provide consistency which in turn makes the children and young people feel safe.
  • Being first point of contact, writing reports on the young person's progress, developing in-house placement plans, and contributing to statutory review reports.
  • Providing emotional and social support and encourage young people to become involved with the local community.

We are looking for someone ideally with experience working in a residential setting and educated with a QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People or NVQ level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children).
