Professional Conduct Assistant - Legal - Temporary Full Time - 3 months

Our client, a leading regulatory body for the legal profession, are looking for a strong administrator to support the Investigation and Hearings team as Professional Conduct Assistant. This is a full time temporary role for 12 weeks. The Investigations and Hearings team are responsible for undertaking investigations into professional conduct, their presentation before disciplinary tribunal and any appeals to the High Court. You will be providing a wide range of effective administrative support to the team. The successful candidate will be required to undertake tasks on a day to day basis which will involve organising hearing dates and preparation of Tribunal hearing bundles, preparing correspondence and drafting letters. Other tasks include maintaining manual and electronic records, updating databases and handling enquiries from internal and external bodies by telephone, letter and email.

Key Responsibilities:

Undertake the timely delivery of administrative support to all stages of the process including:

  • Dealing with post
  • Copy and audio typing
  • Monitoring and taking action on relevant casework tasks
  • Preparation of correspondence and drafting of straightforward letters
  • Answering routine telephone enquiries
  • Preparation and distribution of hearing bundles
  • Effective liaison with the Operational Support Team, in particular in relation to referral of committee notes and entries on the website

Undertake third party liaison necessary to the progress of cases including with:

  • Bar Tribunals and Adjudication Service
  • Prosecution Counsel
  • Other parties involved, such as witnesses and defendant barristers
  • The enforcement of financial penalties
  • Maintain the data included in the database and case log
  • Update the database in relation to all actions taken
  • Archive files
  • Provide general administrative support to the Investigations and Hearings Team Manager and Officers including arranging and minuting meetings
  • Perform other tasks as delegated from time to time by the Administration Team Supervisor or Investigations and Hearings Team Manager


Excellent IT, communication and organisational skills are essential as is the ability to use initiative, work under pressure and demonstrate a close attention to detail.
