An employer-led organisation that has been set up to inspire and prepare young people for the fast-changing world of work is currently in the process of developing a new tool which enable young people to record and reflect on the experiences they have gained outside of the classroom, encouraging them to build a set of skills which will help them to succeed in the job market.
This tool will be supported by organisations that offer activities which help young people to develop their skills, and by schools and colleges that encourage young people to learn and grow. It will be designed to support employers by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of their early talent recruitment processes.
As a Product Manager you will be instrumental in defining the functionality of the new tool engaging with stakeholders, prototype the system with potential users, and build and roll out the product across the UK.
As someone with a track record of engaging stakeholders in the Educator, Activity Provider or Employer fields you will play a crucial part in the success of the product, conducting initial research to shape the vision and a description of the benefits that the system will offer, you will meet with senior representatives and operational experts from your stakeholder group to introduce the product as well as building and maintaining relationships with key individuals to understand each stakeholder?s challenges, explore ways in which the tool could support their work, and secure endorsements and partnerships prior to the launch event.
You will have a passion for young people and how they make their career decisions, as well as an understanding of how young people think and act and of the steps they can take to develop experience outside of the curriculum, and awareness of how this experience will help them to get a job whilst also having demonstrable experience of product management, including engagement and impact tracking, a focus on user experience, and the provision of management information.
As this product will be online based it is also essential that you have an understanding of web based digital products, elearning or similar in order to coordinate with developers and play an important role in the development of the Requirements and Functional specifications, the design and testing of early prototypes with representatives from your stakeholder groups, and the roll out and promotion nationally.
As someone who is passionate about young people's futures and is able to be hands on with a project you will work across the UK with educators, activity providers or employers persuading a variety of audiences and encouraging others to use new ways of working. You must also be adaptable, with the ability to deal with ambiguity and work in a start-up culture and confident in scoping new ideas for development, with the ability to challenge others and be challenged.
This is an ideal role for a contractor who is looking for an inspiring project working on a new and dynamic tool. You can be based from home, as long as you are happy to attend a once a week meeting in London.
