Full Time

Salary: £25,000 per annum

Overall Aim

Support the delivery of a school based mentoring project, working with disadvantaged young people aged 11-16.

The Project Officer role works within the Community & Central Services Team and plays a key role in driving our youth mentoring programme. The successful candidate will be dynamic and highly motivated, coordinating volunteers working in-schools across several boroughs. This will include recruitment and training of volunteer mentors, maintaining key relationships with schools and coordinating events such as activity days for young people.

This organisation works across a number of London Boroughs and is the largest provider of supported housing for single homeless people in South London, serving some of the most vulnerable and disengaged members of the local communities we operate in. They work with people of all ages, providing them with housing, support and guidance to empower them towards independent living and to building a better life.

The Key responsibilities are as follows:

Recruitment and retention of mentees.

Recruitment and support of mentors.

Liaise with schools and parents to support mentees.

Processing all applications and monitoring paperwork; create robust systems to enable tight management of the project.

Maintain project records

Develop and promote Mentoring Project.

Recruit, interview and vet large numbers of mentors from across London.

Support the mentor induction programme for all new mentors.

Work in partnership with key stakeholders such as schools and parents in boroughs of operation.

Coordinate and oversee mentoring activity in schools.

Deliver group work to mentees.

Provide on-going placement support to mentors and mentees.

Develop and deliver the mentee engagement events.

 

Key Skills

Experience of supporting vulnerable young people and children.

Experience of supporting volunteers.

Experience of working in schools preferred
