Are you a skilled and confident professional with at least two years’ experience in dealing with national press and broadcast media? Do you have a strong writing ability? Do you have experience in crisis management? Do you have an excellent awareness of current affairs? If you have all of these then this could be the perfect role for you.

This NHS Trust is looking for a new Media Relations Officer to come and join their team on a permanent basis. In this role you will provide integral support to the Head of Communications in the day to day Media activities of the Trust. You will working with the Deputy Head of Communications to create media strategies (including Social Media), to build on the reputation and showcase the work of the Trust. Further to this you will also play a role in contributing to the corporate communications strategy and media policy. You will actively seek opportunities within the Trust to promote its clinicians and other staff to the media, thereby increasing the Public Profile of the Trust.

As a key member of the team you will also be required to build and develop relationships with key journalists, on all platforms, to enable you to build a base in which to increase the profile of the organisation. You will work, in conjunction with the Deputy Head of Communications, to ensure that the social media activity, in particular twitter, are responded to in a timely fashion, and to ensure that close liaison with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service when complaints are made via social media. In addition, you will also have a part in in planning media activity during major incidents.
