A charity which aims to provide services that help people in tough situations turn their lives around are currently recruiting for up to 8 Learning Support Mentors to work in colleges in the Guildford and Surrey area to re-engage 16-19year olds with their FE studies.
These roles will be on a part time and full time basis, paying up to £10ph based on skills and experience.
The aim of the Learning Support Mentors will be to identify the needs and barriers of students and offer academic support, or signpost them to counselling and other support services within the college.
The aim of the Learning Support Mentor is to help colleges re-engage with students who have been decreasing in attendance and help them back on track with their studies. This will include being on hand to support students understand their learning as well as put in place measures such as timetables and additional support skills.
These will be ongoing roles, potentially to the end of the academic year and then with a view to become permanent if the funding continues on course to be renewed.
Ideally Learning Support Mentors will have the ability to travel around colleges in Guildford, Farnham, Epsom and Stroud, however if they are limited by access to transport then there is the possibility of allocating them a specific location.
These roles are to commence at the start of February and in mid February also.
Candidates will be expected to hold a valid DBS or be willing to complete one.
