A training provider for young people with behavioural difficulties, supporting learners into education and employment are recruiting for a full-time Maths Tutor for an interim position.

Based in Isle of Dogs, the Tutor will be a proactive member of the education team delivering Maths to NEET students aged 14-19.

You will have experience of working with young people with mild to challenging behavioural difficulties in an education setting, working in small group classes and be engaging and supportive of young people. You will need experience in working with Maths teaching before and working with challenging young people. The team are looking for someone who can relate to young people and proactively engage with them.

Hours will be from 8.30am-4.30pm Monday to Friday.

Pay rate will be £90.50 per day rate for start date 4th Jan for 6 weeks.

Criteria for the Maths Tutor include:

  • Teaching qualification such as PTLLS, QTS, QTLS
  • Teaching experience in numeracy
  • Experience of working with young persons, specifically those excluded NEET young people
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience of promoting both Welfare and Inclusion of Young People

Maths Tutor will teach KS4 Maths to our students.

  • Build positive professional relationships with learners and support them to engage with their education and positive aspirations for the future  
  • Deliver sessions according to the high quality standards set for the course and qualification standards, considering session evaluation and improvements
  • Teach according to the quality standards set for the course    
  • Manage learner behaviour in the training room by establishing and maintaining learner code of conduct  
  • Liaise with other KS4 Staff and use initial assessments and any other information to inform interventions where necessary  
  • Signpost students and families for additional support where necessary 
  • Communicate any concerns and/or safeguarding issues with student’s Progression Coach and KS4 Management where necessary 
  • Produce reports on curriculum area as required
