A leading international NGO at the forefront of poverty relief and disease control is seeking an experienced international auditor for a flexible part-time/sessional role. It is important to note that this role will involve several weeks working 'on site' in various countries, followed by several weeks off.
This role is a stand-alone role and will involve the leading on planning all audit related duties. It is imperative that applicants have outstanding knowledge of grant/donor funding such as DIFID, USAID, EC etc and a background in international charity finance audit.
Key duties include:
-To plan and conduct audits and investigations of operations in accordance with the plan agreed with the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee at the start of the financial year.
-To review functions and activities to determine the nature of operations, procedures and related internal controls to achieve established objectives.
-To determine the effectiveness of established internal controls to prevent and/or detect errors and irregularities.
-To determine the scope, nature and timing of audit activities and design the audit procedures and programs.
-To attend the quarterly Finance, Audit and Risk Committee meetings to inform members of issues arising from the audits. To prepare timely reports for submission to and approval by the committee.
-To advise the management and the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee on an ongoing basis of accounting, reporting, control and compliance issues to prevent costly errors and irregularities.
The ideal candidate will:
-Be a fully-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA etc)
-Have several years senior auditing experience in an international organisation
-Have knowledge of the charity sector and NGO donors
-Have outstanding financial risk knowledge
-Have strong analytical and interpersonal skills
