HR & Recruitment Advisor - Temporary 3-6 Months

Our client a small Mental Health charity based in Surrey, Walton-on-Thames are looking for some immediate HR/Recruitment support at a time of change for the charity.

This role requires someone who is able to manage their own workload as you will have a lot of responsibility in the post due to the small team reporting directly to the General Manager of the office; this is a demanding role and as such needs someone who is able to manage under pressure and has a varied generalist background ideally exposure to the charity sector.

1. Supporting the General Manager in carrying out the HR function including:

*Staff recruitment
*Facilitating interviews
*Induction of new staff
*To oversee the staff and report any concerns to General Manager
*Update staff contracts & Statement of Terms as necessary
*Dealing with grievances and implementing disciplinary procedures with the General Manager
*Planning, and occasionally delivering, training - including inductions for new staff
*Analysing training needs
*Carry out risk assessments when required
*Annual leave and sick leave
*Keeping all relevant and required HR records up to date
*Ensuring appraisals are carried out annually
*All other administrative duties required ensuring comprehensive line management of staff
*Assisting the General Manager in the Policy and Procedure development and ensuring the Handbook and Policies are reviewed annually
*Respond to reference requests (supported permitted work, employment and tenancy)
*Processing employee changes and confirming in writing
*Informing the General Manager of any changes in employment law that are likely to effect the organisation
*Keeping all relevant and required HR records and apply the main data protection principles. To include shredding and archiving of old files

2. Assisting the Office Coordinator in her absence

*Staff rotas
*To manage and delegate work to the Admin & Support Workers where necessary

3. Person Specification

*Educated at degree level or equivalent
*CIPD or equivalent experience
*Experience in HR project implementation
*Significant experience of working with employment laws and practices
*Experience of a flexible approach to managing and prioritising a high workload
*Experience of proactively identifying and addressing issues
*Strong interpersonal, negotiating, influencing and consultative skills
*Ability to use project management techniques to ensure that delivers to cost, time and quality
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially verbal presentation and high quality report/policy writing
