TPP?s client, a homeless charity operating in the Reading area are looking to recruit a Housing Officer for their tenancy management services.
Our client is a well-established independent provider of supported housing that helps some of Readings most vulnerable and disadvantaged people. Based in the centre of town our client works to provide accommodation, support, education and counselling to those in need in order to give them the skills to succeed.
The job of Housing Officer will encompass a wide range of duties that will all contribute to the efficient management of our clients housing services. Such duties will involve the administration and logging of maintenance work through liaisons with contractors and clients as well as tenant interviewing and income recovery. Additionally the role will entail carrying out a certain amount of health and safety reviewing, including in regards to the risk assessment of challenging tenants. Providing a neighbourhood presence as a deterrent to Anti-social behaviour (ASB) may also be required; this through CCTV monitoring when needed. Void co-ordination will be a feature of the position as will carrying out pre and post inspections of property when required.
The successful candidate for this role will ideally have 2 years' experience in providing housing management services as well as demonstrable knowledge of lettings and voids. Experience of coordinating housing maintenance (having developed contractor relationships) is a must as is an understanding of Health and Safety. Knowledge of effective strategies to combat ASB will be key to developing the role and as an extension of this a good understanding of Housing Benefit and the housing sector will be key to your success. The job will require someone who is able to work with a wide variety of service users from across Reading while staying calm in potentially difficult situations. All applicants will need to have a full UK driving licence and any CIH or CIEH Health and Safety qualifications will be seen as an asset.
