Would you like to be part of a happy band of volunteers that are helping to save lives at sea without even getting wet? Could you engage a local school, youth group or event audience in your community by delivering incredible rescue stories that share the work of the RNLI with groups of eager children?

Your role would be to educate and enthuse young people; promoting the work of the RNLI to inspire and motivate the next generation of RNLI supporters. There’s also the option to do some local research into the history of lifesaving at sea to infuse presentations with a local flavour. 

Just as we give all our Lifeboat crews the right training and equipment to carry out their lifesaving work, we provide Heritage Education Volunteers with all the necessary training and support to carry out their role effectively.   Heritage Education Volunteers have access to a range of online learning materials, as well as opportunities for one to one support from fellow volunteers and RNLI education specialists.

As a Heritage Education Volunteer you will have the opportunity to meet lots of new people and develop your skills in talking to young people.

This is a volunteer opportunity within the RNLI.  RNLI volunteers are people who, unpaid and of their own free will, contribute their time, energy and skills to support the purposes of the RNLI.  RNLI volunteers may perform a variety of tasks and duties, under direction and guidance, using their skills, knowledge and time to help the RNLI best achieve its objectives.
