For more than a decade, our focus has always been to provide evidence-based information to those in need. We are proud to have helped more than a 1,000 people and will continue doing everything we can to support even more. Our singular focus on supporting people with cancer with objective, impartial information means we do not sell drugs, treatments or therapies.
We provide information to guide people with cancer through the confusing options for care and lifestyle/treatment. Our aim is to help them make informed choices. We simplify the complex and facilitate access to expert knowledge.
We quickly provide simple, straightforward information about what people with cancer can do right now to make a real difference to their wellbeing.
We provide individual support through our helpline and website , and information through blogs and publications , radio broadcasts, workshops and conferences.
We also provide contacts to a range of specialist practitioners and organisations.
Our helpline is supported by highly trained volunteers all with personal experience of cancer, either themselves or through a close relative or friend. They may have also have supported someone through chronic disease.
Our volunteers often provide a lifeline to people with cancer whose voices have fallen on deaf ears, or who are otherwise very isolated.
Our helpline is manned by helpline volunteers who are highly trained people who work from home. To ensure we deliver the best service possible, we need to check that every call to our helpline has been picked up and answered.
The role of the Helpline administrator is to check that the calls have been answered and log data from the calls for planning purposes . The data is taken from the call log and our database and is kept on an excel spreadsheet. You will be trained on the Yes to Life database and also on the job by Claire who has previously carried out this role but now manages the helpline rotas and helps with funding admin.
This work can be done from home, but you will be in regular contact with the team and the volunteers. You will also be invited to all helpline get togethers and you can attend any Yes to Life events/workshops/seminars. The role should take 2-3 hours per week and you will need to have your own laptop/PC and an internet connection.
