A state of the art Urban Innovation charity based in central London is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a fantastic new role. The successful candidate will join the organisation at an exciting time of growth, and will be one of the key decision makers within the charity.
The role will involve:
-Delivery of a strategic financial and commercial plan for the organisation. This includes developing, consolidating and managing all aspects of Financial & Management accounting, decision making information, audit and compliance and business intelligence.
- Establish a full year plan with detailed timetable for delivering key output.
- Carry out the annual 5-year financial planning responsibilities.
- Provide automated scheduled reporting to key stakeholders.
-Carry out the full year Audit
-To ensure the provision of timely & accurate monthly management information.
-To provide financial accounting expertise to implement and maintain financial regulations and assure compliance in all financial matters including clearance of Audit points.
-To manage and motivate your team to achieve their full potential.
-To ensure all financial systems and processes are following best practice and are up to date, this will include SAP by Design (AP, AR, FAR &GL), Project Accounting, Excel workbooks, Innovate UK Reporting tools and Treasury tools among others.
-To oversee commercial contract reviews to assure they meet requirements set out in the 1 & 5 year plans.
-To ensure cash projections meet 1 & 5 year targets.
-To be responsible for the credit control function
-To manage the interim & full year Audits
-To manage a procurement function for the charity
-Fully qualified accountant attained from a recognised accounting body (CIMA, ACCA, ACA).
- Minimum of 6 years’ experience leading a team in a management accountant function
-Advanced Excel skills
-Project Accounting experience including R&D projects.
-Leading a shared service function for an organisation of at least £50m turnover including at least AP, AR, Treasury, Credit Control and Payroll & Procurement
- Ability to deliver high quality, responsive and cost effective services, both directly and through external providers.
- Have the ability to mentor and develop staff for succession planning
-Ability to work under pressure, with a customer-oriented approach to service delivery
-Prince 2 or Agile Project Management qualification (desirable)
-In depth knowledge of SAP by Design and Business Intelligence Tools e.g. Cognos (desirable)
-Experience in EU Project accounting and with publicly funded organisations (desirable)
